Castlemaine Camera Club
Competitions

Competitions are one of the most popular areas of many photographic clubs, with members learning by having their photographic works of art evaluated by expert judges whilst enjoying the friendly rivalry of fellow photo enthusiasts.

Competitions are held monthly, and have Open and Set Subject categories.

Each Monthly competition has five sections:
Slides, Monochrome (B&W) Prints, Large Colour Prints, Small Prints (B&W or Colour), Digital.

Competitors may enter up to four entries in each section per competition (i.e. a competitor could if they wished, enter a maximum of 20 entries in a given competition; very few do!)

There are no "1st, 2nd or 3rd" prizes in Monthly competitions, judges awarding entries an "Acceptance", "Merit" or "Honour".

Entries are allocated 1, 3 or 5 Points respectively in Open Subject competitions, and 2, 4 and 6 Points respectively in Set Subject competitions, thereby acknowledging that Set Subject competitions require more work and thought on the part of the photographer and rewarding them accordingly.

The accumulated Points for each competitor are added at the end of the year, resulting in Annual Awards for those with the most Points.
